Mukul’s academic foundation began at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), where he earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science, developing the analytical and problem solving skills essential for success in finance. Driven by a passion for financial markets, he pursued a Master’s in Financial Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also passed two levels of the CFA exam.
After completing his education, Mukul joined Merrill Lynch as a commodity trader and rapidly advanced to become Head Trader of the Commodity Index group. There, he developed and executed absolute return strategies and built deep expertise in managing risk.
Mukul’s programming background and trading expertise empowered him to break free from the conventional path. He left Merrill Lynch to launch QuantRoll Capital LLC, where he achieved consistent success trading commodity futures with his own capital. As his personal wealth grew, Mukul recognized the need for alternative investment strategies incorporating uncorrelated asset classes to potentially enhance returns and to help mitigate volatility, driven by a desire for even greater financial freedom and growth.
Mukul envisioned an opportunity to share his strategies in a cost-effective manner with other individuals seeking alternatives to traditional index investing and a 60/40 portfolio, which often comes with significant risk. By offering a more sophisticated approach, he aimed to provide a more attractive option for those looking to diversify their portfolios and help mitigate drawdowns.
